This chapter was added to the manual in May 2014.
This section includes The North West Learning and Improvement Framework and covers the requirements within Chapter 4 of Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015, which describes the way that professionals and organisations protecting children need to reflect on the quality of their services and learn from their own practice and that of others. It explains the requirements for an integrated local learning and improvement framework and the principles to be used when undertaking Serious Case Reviews, as well as other forms of reviews and audits.
For further guidance and to promote consistency when conducting SCRs in Greater Manchester, Greater Manchester Serious Case Review Systems Approach Guidance provides a framework which Greater Manchester LSCBs may choose to use to carry out Serious Case Reviews. It is designed to be applied flexibly while still providing an element of consistency for our region.
